“Ninety-nine percent of the people who volunteer for the mission field never get there. It takes more than a ‘Lord, I’m willing’.” Quote by Jim Elliot, in Shadow of the Almighty by Elizabeth Elliot
Pray and ask God where and how He would have you serve. Perhaps He is calling you to minister in jail. Or write letters of encouragement. Or be there when someone gets released. Or pray regularly for inmates.
Then act on faith. Contact us to set up a time when we can meet and talk with you about that. In the meantime, read our manuals, leader’s guides, and fill out an application. In order to serve with or represent JMOC one has to agree with our Core Values and Mission Statement.
The Jail Ministry of Otsego County depends on your ongoing financial support. We are not funded by the government, the state, or even the county. We are able to give away free Bibles and other literature to inmates because of your donations. We are able to provide other services to men and women upon release because of your faithful giving. As missionaries to our local jails, we not only need your prayer support, but your financial contributions to sustain this ministry.
Contact Ameen Aswad at (607) 282-2521 to get more information to help you in your ongoing support of this ministry.
Or send your check or money order to the Jail Ministry of Otsego County Inc. P.O. Box 1023 Cooperstown, New York 13326.
For JMOC to be successful in reaching and changing lives within Otsego County Corrections and its aftercare program, it takes your prayers and support. We have many opportunities to see lives changed, and we want to invite you to be a vital part through your daily prayers. Please contact us for specific needs and how you can help.
